The trailer shows Ameya Rao Gaikwad (Atul Kulkarni) and Poornima Gaikwad (Priya Bapat), reprising their roles as father and daughter. The two are locking horns over their quest for power, and the fight only gets darker with betrayal, double-crossing, violence shown in greater gravity and intensity.
The makers have stated that the second season will narrate Poornima’s fightback against patriarchy in politics as she takes on her father head-on, to rise to the chair of the Chief Minister. Priya has described her character as ‘inspiring and admirable and that she was touched that her character in season 1 has touched a chord with the audience, especially with women. She added that Poornima will be seen in a more ‘daring, gritty and determined’ avatar as her political ambitions become paramount to her on her journey to break stereotypes and go to the top in a male-dominated world.
Atul Kulkarni finds the character special to his heart, adding that the ‘almost sinister quality of Ameya makes him hold his desire for holding political power above family bonds and everything else.

The first season of the City of Dreams was about an attempt to assassinate a powerful politician that sparked a fight between his son and daughter. Season two will also have Sachin Pilgaonkar, Eijaz Khan, and Sushant Singh in important roles.
Nagesh Kukunoor, who is well known for his critically well-received films like Iqbal (2005) and Dor (2006) stated that the audience response to the first season has ‘overwhelmed’ him and he wishes to live up to the expectations in the second season. He went on to add that the battle for political power in the Gaikwad family will go on to the next level, and will get ‘murkier and personal.’
City of Dreams is bankrolled by Applause Entertainment in collaboration with Kukunoor Movies.
