Cobra: Chiyaan Vikram is back as mathematician Madhi and assassin Cobra on SonyLIV

Chiyaan Vikram's latest release Cobra is now streaming on SonyLIV, much to the delight of the fans of the actor. Though the OTT platform had announced yesterday that the film had released a day ahead of its scheduled release (September 28), many users seem to have faced technical glitches. Now it looks like the issue has been solved. SonyLIV has been releasing a series of promos from the film. The film is streaming in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam on the digital platform

Cobra is a psychological action thriller, written and directed by R Ajay Gnanamuthu. The film has Chiyaan Vikram playing dual roles, Madhi, mathematician and his twin, the high-profile assassin Cobra. The film has an ensemble cast including Srinidhi Shetty, Irfan Pathan, Roshan Mathew, KS Ravikumar, Anandaraj, Robo Shankar, Miya George, Mirnalini Ravi, Sarjano Khalid and Meenakshi Govindarajan. Cobra marks the debut of cricketer-turned-actor Irfan Pathan in the film industry and K.G.F actress Srinidhi Shetty's debut in Tamil.Cobra also marks the debut of Malayalam actors Sarjano Khalid and Roshan Mathew in the industry.

Music for the film is by AR Rahman. Cobra marks AR Rahman's maiden collaboration with Ajay Gnanamuthu. Rahman had earlier composed for Vikram's Pudhiya Mannargal (1994), Raavanan (2010) and I (2015). The album comprises five songs- Thumbi Thullal, Adheera, Uyir Urugudhey, Tharangini and Yele Ilanchingamey.

Cinematography is by Harish Kannan and editing is by Bhuvan Srinivasan. The film hit screens on August 31 on the occasion of Vinayagar Chaturthi, but it opened to negative reviews and failed to set the cash registers ringing. This was Vikram's first theatrical release in the last three years. His last release in theatres was Kadaram Kondan.

Speaking to OTTplay, Vikram had earlier told us, " When Mahaan released on OTT, it did well but I couldn't really experience the excitement of the fans. For us actors, it's the audience's reaction that motivates us and we can see that when a film releases in theatres. I am glad that Cobra is my first theatrical release after three years."
