Cobra Kai became a popular show among fans when it was first released and became bigger when it was picked up by Netflix. The fans of the show have a lot of Cobra Kai coming their way, and the latest news is that season 5 of the show has wrapped filming.

Jon Hurwitz, co-creator and producer of the show revealed the news on Twitter about the wrap of the fifth season. Sharing a photo of him and Josh Heald, co-creator, Hurwitz wrote, “Five. Fin.”.

Season 4 of the show, which runs as a sequel to the Karate Kid movies. Season 4 is set to release on Netflix on December 31, 2021. The first season of Cobra Kai released on YouTube on YouTue Red service. But when they stopped scripted content on the platform, Netflix picked up the show, which had become popular by that time.

Netflix picked up Cobra Kai after the release of the third season, and confirmed two more seasons of the show will stream on the platform.

The show follows the main characters of the iconic Karate Kid franchise, 34 years after the movies. The show however has the added twist of following the main antagonist rather than the protagonist.

The show follows original villain Johnny played by William Zabka rather than Ralph Macchio’s Daniel, where Johnny befriends a neighborhood kid named Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), as he saves him using Karate. When Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai dojo to train Miguel, it rekindles his rivalry with Daniel.

Season 3 of Cobra Kai saw Daniel and Johnny join hands and the returns of Thomas Ian Griffith, reprising his role as Terry Silver for the third Karate Kid movie. With season 4 returning at the end of December and season 5 wrapped, there is a whole lot more of Cobra Kai on the way.
