Parineeti Chopra will be seen in an all-new action avatar in her upcoming Ribhu Dasgupta directorial Code Name: Tiranga. The film also marks the second collaboration of Ribhu with Parineeti after the Hindi adaptation of The Girl on the Train. The director feels that as an actor, Parineeti’s potential has not been explored fully yet.

Ribhu was present at the trailer preview of the film along with Parineeti, Harrdy Sandhu, Sharad Kelkar among others, in Mumbai on Tuesday. During an interactive session with the media, Ribhu shared, "I worked with Pari earlier and she was not the obvious cast for that film also (referring to The Girl on the Train) and throughout the process of the film, we realised that she has so much potential. Since then, I was planning to offer Pari something that is 360 degrees contrasting to whatever she did so far.”

He further stated, “You see, for a talented actress like her, she deserves the best script to work on. When I made my web series Bard of Blood for Netflix, I realised that I am loving exploring the action thriller genre."

"I remember briefing Pari on a story idea post our The Girl on the Train. But then the pandemic happened. The story of Code Name: Tiranga came to my mind and instead of finishing that earlier script, I finished this one and narrated it to Pari. She loved it! I feel she has so much talent but is under-explored," he concluded.

As the film was shot in Turkey in 2021, during the global pandemic, according to the director, the whole cast and crew went through a lot of hard times not only logistically but also emotionally. "There were days when we were going through so much that we felt emotionally drained. Morally I felt like breaking down.”

Ribhu elaborated, “When you’re shooting a film in a different country with a group of people, tension is also there on health. If any unit member gets COVID-19, we had to stop the shoot. Since it was an action film, we had to be extra careful about injuries etc. The tension is really unexplainable. But Parineeti and the rest of our cast and crew stood by me like a rock."

Code Name: Tiranga is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Reliance Entertainment. Also starring Sharad Kelkar, Rajit Kapur, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Shishir Sharma, and Sabyasachi Chakraborty, the film is all set to hit the silver screens on October 14.
