The precious talent of Sanjith Hegde has amassed many fans over the years and the singer, too, has only delivered at the highest standards throughout. Having burst onto the scene with a bang through a singing reality show only a few years ago, Sanjith Hegde has successfully transitioned from revelation to a powerhouse whose voice, combined with his personality, is a trademark today.
His voice has already rendered countless melodies in Kannada Cinema but turns out there's a lot more to his skill set that the world may not have been aware of. Sanjith Hegde, along with Charan Raj and co., recently appeared on Coke Studio Bharat but he didn't as a singer alone. He has also composed and co-written the song that is now making waves on the internet.
Titled Geejaga Hakki, the song derives inspiration from Raja Harischandra and is imbued with a storytelling pattern derived from the art form of Yakshagana. And in vibrant contrast, the creators opt for a contemporary musical arrangement that includes electronica, acoustic guitar and other elements going hand-in-hand with the traditional sounds of the Mandolin and the Saz. Popular singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Sid Cuotto features as part of the ensemble (on the electric guitar) and so does Prasannakumar Hegde, the Yakshagana singer (information source: IANS).
Geejaga Hakki is the first Kannada song in Coke Studio India's 12-year history. Previously, highly revered names from the Indian classical, film, Sufi, jazz, rock, hip-hop and other musical genres have performed on the show, including Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Ustad Rashid Khan, Bombay Jayshree, Aruna Sairam, AR Rahman, Hard Kaur, Hans Raj Hans, Usha Uthup and several others.
And those who have listened to the song cannot help but rave about it. The single is yet to reach its maximum potential in terms of popularity but the verdict on social media is unanimously positive.
