Cinematographer-turned-director Tanu Balak’s Cold Case promises enough thrills and chills! The trailer of the Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer was released on Amazon Prime Video’s official social media handles on June 21 and gives a peek into what the movie is about.
Prithviraj’s character, ACP Sathyajith, is on the trail of a cold-blooded killer. The cop unearths the remains of a body that was buried years ago, but apparently some of the recent events hint that the killer is back.
While the teaser also hinted the movie might also deal with some supernatural elements that the police officer doesn’t believe in, the trailer doesn’t push that angle too much – apart from the murmurs of Suchitra Pillai’s visually-impaired character.
The film, which is set to release directly on Amazon Prime Video, also has Aditi Balan, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Athmiya Rajan and Anil Nedumangad in pivotal roles. Srinath V Nath has scripted the thriller.
Cold Case, which is co-produced by Anto Joseph and cinematographer Jomon T John’s Plan J, will mark Prithviraj’s first direct-to-OTT release. The entire film was shot in Thiruvananthapuram right after the lockdown was lifted in Kerala.
Prithviraj had incidentally tested positive for COVID-19, just before he was set to join the sets of the movie, which will mark the directorial debut of Tanu Balak. The filmmaker had earlier worked as a cinematographer in Mammootty’s The Train.
The Mollywood star, meanwhile, is busy with his second directorial titled BroDaddy that has Mohanlal and himself in the lead. The movie also has Soubin Shahir, Meena, Lalu Alex, Kaniha, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Murali Gopy in important roles.
