Collin Farrell is set to return as DC Comics villain Penguin in a spinoff series of The Batman set at US streaming platform HBO Max.
Before the show, the actor will be seen in this role in Matt Reeves' directorial led by Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.
According to Variety, the spinoff will focus on how The Penguin rose to power in the Gotham underworld. Lauren LeFranc will write the script, while Farrell will executive produce with Reeves and the film’s producer Dylan Clark. Warner Bros is also the producer.
There had been initial reports on the show being in development, but Farrell was not a part of it at that time.
However, this development has not been confirmed by either Warner Bros or HBO Max, notes Variety.
The supervillain has previously been played by Burgess Meredith in the 1966 television series Batman, followed by Danny DeVito in Batman Returns, and Robin Taylor Lord in the show Gotham.
Meanwhile, The Batman also stars Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Jayme Lawson, and Andy Serkis.
The film will be released in cinemas in 2022.
