Show’s cast: Dilip Joshi, Disha Vakani, Bhavya Gandhi, Raj Anadkat, Nitish Bhaluni, Amit Bhatt, Champaklal Jayantilal Gada, Jayantilal Girdharlal Gada, Shailesh Lodha, Sachin Shroff and many others!

Show’s plot:
Considered to be one of the longest running shows ever in the history of Indian television, the entire series of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is actually a TV adaptation of the book by the same name. Set in Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society, the show deals with ‘duniya bharr ke’ log who hail from different backgrounds!

What has worked for the show in its favour is that, almost all the characters of the show seem totally relatable with the common man. None of the characters or situations which have been shown in the show are ever larger than life or imaginative. The serial, which has been running for many, many years now, has seen many characters joining the show and, also at the same time, there have been many characters who have left the show, only to be replaced by their successors.

These days, the show has been making news for a not-so-good reason. Since the last couple of days, the person Gurucharan Singh, who played the role of Roshan Singh Harjeet Singh Sodhi in the serial, has gone missing in real life. The actor, however, had quit the show a couple of years back.

Name of the show: Wagle Ki Duniya Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey
Created by: Jamnadas Majethia, Aatish Kapadia
Directed by: Aatish Kapadia, Sameer Kulkarni
Show’s cast: Sumeet Raghavan, Pariva Pranati, Anjan Srivastav, Bharati Achrekar

Show’s plot:
Those who have lived through the eighties and nineties era, will surely agree with the fact that the Anjan Srivastav and Bharati Achrekar starrer Wagle Ki Duniya was a to-do thing to do of every household. Inspired by the cult cartoonist R K Lakshman’s Common Man, this serial went onto become one of the pillars of Doordarshan at that time.

Cica’ modern era- The makers Aatish Kapadia, Sameer Kulkarni thought of recreating the epic Wagle Ki Duniya as suited today’s times, and hence, named it Wagle Ki Duniya Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey! Starring the inimitable Sumeet Raghavan, Pariva Pranati along with the ‘OG’ cast Anjan Srivastav and Bharati Achrekar with others, did manage to recreate the charm and the magic of the original!

Name of the show: Tenali Rama
Created by: Abhimanyu Singh
Directed by: T S Nagabarana
Show’s cast: Krishna Bharadwaj, Pankaj Berry, Manav Gohil, Tarun Khanna

Show’s plot: There have been many of us who must have grown up listening to the greatness and the wit of Tenali Rama. Maybe, that’s why T S Nagabarana and Abhimanyu Singh planned to recreate the same in the format of a television series.Spearheaded by the extremely apt looking actor Manav Gohil this serial went onto become one of the reasons why the audiences always made it a point to tune in to the television (and now OTT) to watch the word -to-word wit of Tenali Rama.

Name of the show: FIR
Directed by: Shashank Bali
Show’s cast: Kavita Kaushik, Gopi Bhalla, Kiku Sharda

Show’s plot:
The makers of the show decided to make many serious matters in life a thing to smile about. The said series ‘FIR’ happens to be a situational comedy serial which has been ‘radiused’ around Chandramukhi Chautala (a Haryanvi female police officer) and her three ‘super-able’ subordinates.

These three subordinates are in the form of Constable Mulayam Singh Gulgule, Head Constable Gopinath Gandothra, and Constable Billu, who later joined the Chowki. Each and every episode showed the (funny) manner in which the ‘able’ team of Chandramukhi Chautala approached any case and the manner in which they used to solve it! Whether they were able to solve the cases or not, is anybody’s guess!

Name of the show: Madam Sir aka Maddam Sir – Kuch Baat Hai Kyunki Jazbaat Hai
Created by: Jay Mehta
Directed by: Hemen Chauhan
Show’s cast: Gulki Joshi, Yukti Kapoor, Sonali Pandit Naik, Bhavika Sharma

Show’s plot:
The said show is about one male officer and four Lucknow-based female police officers. The best part is that, all of them work at a ‘Mahila’ police station (women-run police station). This police station consists of SHO Haseena Mallik, SI Karishma Singh, Head Constable Pushpa Singh and constable Santosh Sharma, and Cheeteshwar Chaturvedi, who happen to be the male constable.

The fun-filled series mirrors the variations of temperaments between the lead actors on the show, which leads to fun situations overall.
