Good music for a film is like an invitation before a wedding, said composer S Thaman in an interview, talking of the significance of songs in drawing crowds to theatres. And it's not surprising to see why his work is celebrated in most of the mainstream films he composes for. While the musician's career gained steam with Ravi Teja's Kick initially, it gathered new momentum after the humungous success of Ala Vaikunthapurramulo in 2022.
His efforts for Ala Vaikunthapurramulo earned all the validation it deserved with the National Award win for Best Music today. It's extremely rare for a mainstream film to win an award in the Best Music category. The gesture shows how the jury has valued the work that goes into a film catered to the masses. In a social media post, Thaman thanked Ala..'s director Trivikram and its lead star Allu Arjun for the win.
As part of a series of tweets, Thaman wrote, "My Respect to Our Genius dearest Director #Trivikram Sir β. He Made it for Us π§ & Many more In making. ...My dear #ICON STAR β€οΈ @alluarjun gaaru. The day One of #AVPL Music It was that Great energy from day One π thanks dear #Bunny gaaru.... And Our dear producers @haarikahassine @GeethaArts dear #radhakrishna ( chinnababu ) gaaru & #AlluArvindh Gaaru For Making Our #AlaVaikunthapurramuloo #AVPL Music a big one for all of us and trusting us immensely β€οΈ" (sic)
Nearly all the songs in Ala.., including Butta Bomma, Samajavaragamana, Ramulo Ramula, the title track, Sittharala Sirapadu and OMG Daddy worked as standalone tracks and were even integrated into the narrative seamlessly by Trivikram in the film. Aditya Music had acquired the audio rights for the project (currently streaming on Netflix, SunNXT). Thaman's latest release is the Naga Chaitanya starrer Thank You, which opened to mixed reviews today.
