Tamil actor Daniel Balaji who appeared in negative roles and most famously known for his role as the antagonist in the Kamal Haasan-starrer Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, died on Friday late hours after suffering from cardiac arrest. He was aged 48.

The actor was admitted at a hospital in Chennai after complaining of chest pain. The last rites of his mortal remain will be conducted in Chennai. Many took to social media to condole the death of Daniel Balaji.

Daniel Balaji is no more

As per reports, Daniel Balaji complained of chest pain and was rushed to a city hospital in Kottivakam. However, the actor took his last breath. Daniel Balaji started his career by doing roles in television serials. After getting recognised for his role in the TV serial Chitti in which he played a role named Daniel, he went on to star in many films, namely Kaakha Kaakha, Vada Chennai. Polladhavan and Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu. His role as antagonist Amudhan in Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu was particularly noted upon the film's release and earned praises.

Balaji was born on December 2, 1975 and went on to pursue film direction. He is related to late actor Murali and his son-actor Atharvaa. Daniel Balaji also worked in Malayalam and Telugu film industries. In Malayalam, he has appeared in films like Daddy Cool, Bhagavan, Photographer and has shared the screen space with actors like Mohanlal and Mammootty. In Telugu, he acted in Tuck Jagadish, Chirutha, and Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo among others.

Condolences pour in

Upon the news of Daniel Balaji’s death, many took to social media to pay their last respects. Director Mohan Raja took to X (formerly Twitter) handle, and wrote, “Such a Sad news. He Was an inspiration for me to join film institute. A very good friend. Miss working with him. May his soul rest in peace.”

Many others too shared clips from Daniel Balaji’s films and prayed for his peace.
