It's often said the devil gets all the best lines. And actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran seems to know that. While he continues to play the conventional hero roles, he has also seemingly taken a liking for the villain roles. We could now confirm that he will be playing the antagonist in the upcoming film Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil. The director-turned-actor Basil Joseph will take on the mantle of the hero in the movie.
Prithviraj played the role of a radicalised man in Kuruthi (2021). He is also playing the main villain in the upcoming Bollywood film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. And he will also be seen in an antagonistic role in director Prashanth Neel's Salaar. Starring Prabhas in the lead role, Salaar is one of the most-awaited movies of 2023. Prithviraj is essaying the role called Vardharaja Mannaar in the film, which is touted as the biggest action film of the year.

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil will be directed by Vipin Das and the script is written by Deepu Pradeep of Kunjiramayanam fame. Vipin is basking in the success of his previous outing Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey . Starring Basil and Darshana Rajendran in the lead roles, the film was a dark comedy on the subject of domestic abuse. It tells the tale of a conservative husband with deep-rooted misogyny. However, his life turns upside down when his wife learns to fight by watching videos on the internet. The movie was a big commercial hit in Kerala and it received a lot of love when it was also made available for streaming on Disney+Hostar.
