Coolie, the highly anticipated film which marks the first onscreen collaboration of Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, is currently under production. As reported earlier, Aamir Khan is expected to make his Tamil cinema debut with Coolie. The Bollywood superstar is expected to play a cameo role in the film.

If the recent updates are to be believed, Aamir Khan is all set to join the sets of Coolie, to shoot for his portions in the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer. As per the reports, director Lokesh Kanagaraj and his team are planning to kickstart the new schedule of the film in Jaipur, Rajasthan, in a few days. The Laal Singh Chaddha actor is expected to film his combination scenes with the legendary superstar in Coolie, during the Jaipur schedule of the film.

Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj were originally planning to join hands for a fantasy film with the superstar playing a negative role. The project, which was expected to be shot entirely on an IMAX camera, was later shelved due to its massive scale, and extensive production schedules. The producers and leading man reportedly wanted to complete their next project in just six months. Later, Lokesh Kanagaraj narrated a different story idea to Rajinikanth, which eventually became Coolie.

Coolie, which is touted to be a dark thriller, which features Rajinikanth as the central character Deva. Along with the superstar and Aamir Khan, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial features a massive star cast, including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Lokesh confirmed that all the actors have equally well-written characters in the film.
