Coolie actors Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj got together for a chat, and that was when Shruti, daughter of actor and politician Kamal Haasan, chose to reveal why her father took up learning Bengali. Actors Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj, who were seen sharing screen space in the Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie, had a chat recently. In this conversation available on Sun TV YouTube channel, Sathyaraj spoke about how Shruti Haasan can speak various languages genetically because her father Kamal Haasan is a polyglot. Sathyaraj also mentioned how Kamal even went as far as learning Bengali to work in a film, despite being a Tamilian. To this, Shruti Haasan revealed the true reason as to why Kamal Haasan learnt Bengali, and it has a love story behind it.

"Do you know why he learnt Bengali? Because at that time, he was in love with Aparna Sen and to impress her, he learnt Bengali. He did not learn for films," Shruti Haasan said on a lighter note. She also went on to reveal this is why, in the 2000 film Hey Ram, directed by Kamal Haasan, he chose to name the character of Rani Mukerji as Aparna.

Aparna Sen, a prolific film director, screenwriter and actor, has worked in Bengali cinema and won many accolades for her contribution. She was conferred with Padma Shri for her achievements.

Coolie, which is headlined by Rajinikanth and stars Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj, among others like Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir and Upendra, will premiere on Prime Video after its theatrical run. The film is expected to drop on the streaming platform sometime during the last week of September. The film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and is a standalone film.
