Coolie box office collection day 14: Rajinikanth’s action thriller sees slight growth on Vinayakar Chaturthi with no major releases

Coolie, the Rajinikanth-starrer film, which has been the only major release for Tamil cinema in theatres, has been seeing a fluctuation at the box office. Even as the film went on to become the highest grosser so far in Tamil cinema, the dips in collection have been evident. Coolie has collected Rs 268.75 crore so far in India.

It has been 14 days or two weeks since the release of Coolie, the Rajinikanth-starring action thriller helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film hit theatres on August 14, and as of now, its box office report stands at Rs 268.75 crore, as per Sacnilk report. With Vinayakar Chaturthi falling on August 27, and no major Tamil releases, Coolie had collected Rs 4.50 crore on that day. The film is expected to run until the end of next week, when the next big release, Madharaasi, will take over the screens.

Coolie is also currently the highest-grossing Tamil film so far this year, having collected Rs 500 crore worldwide. The film holds first position, yet has been struggling at the box office to keep up a steady run, owing to its middling reviews. Thanks to the festive season and no competitors, Coolie has been seeing sporadic rises in day collections.

Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of Coolie. Subscribers of OTTplay Premium can watch the film soon with a top-up option. The streamer is yet to announce an OTT release date.
