Actor Soori, who was last seen in Viduthalai: Part 2 , is gearing up for his next release, Maaman. The family drama is set to hit theatres on May 16. Directed by Vilangu fame filmmaker Prasanth Pandiaraj, the trailer and audio launch of the film recently took place in Chennai and saw the presence of various prominent personalities from the industry. One of them was director Lokesh Kanagaraj who spoke about Soori’s growth as lead actor.
After proving his mettle as comedia, Soori has transitioned himself as lead actor. Some of his films like Kottukkaali , Viduthalai , and Garudan, in which he played the lead role, have been getting good reception. In line with this, his next film is titled Maaman, which is slated for theatrical release on May 16.
In a recent event held for the film, director Lokesh Kanagaraj who is helming Coolie, had some praises for Soori. "I watched the trailer of Maaman a few days back and I think Maaman is a blockbuster film. The success meter for a proper commercial film is already seen in the trailer. Recently, people are also welcoming light-hearted films. I am also wowed by the growth of Soori. Because, even I am making films with my production banner and 5 out of 10 films I hear are written for Soori,” the Coolie director said.
While Lokesh Kanagaraj and Soori have not worked together so far, if things go positive, we can expect the Maaman actor collaborating with the director-producer in some way or the other.
With just 99 days to go for release, Coolie is set for August 14 in theatres. Headlined by Rajinikanth, it also stars Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and others. It is speculated that Aamir Khan will also make a cameo appearance in the film.
