Coolie director Lokesh Kanagaraj says 'no compromise on violence' for Rajinikanth film

Lokesh Kanagaraj is teaming up for the first time with actor Rajinikanth in Coolie. The film which is scheduled to release in August, is already the most expected Tamil film. While Lokesh is known for heavy violence in his films, Rajinikanth’s outings so far have always been family friendly that caters to all age groups. Lokesh Kanagaraj on if he did any compromises for Coolie

After directing Vijay in Leo, Lokesh Kanagaraj announced his next with Rajinikanth, Coolie. The film is releasing on August 14 in theatres. With only few more weeks to go, Lokesh in a recent conversation with Galatta Plus was asked if he had to compromise or adapt his film and tastes (which are usually violence heavy) so that it can cater to the family friendly audience of Rajinikanth.

The filmmaker said, “No compromise on violence. It is going to be trigger all the emotions that a family audience would want. At the same I don't want to lose my grip on the film. I don't want to do PG-13 film. I have not avoided guns and drugs in the film, the godowns... It will have a lot of adrenaline rush, which we have not seen in Rajini sir's films in a while.”

Will Coolie have IMAX release?

Coolie release will be colliding with Hindi film War 2. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR in the lead roles, the film will have a release on August 14. The banner producing it, Yash Raj Films, has already locked most of the IMAX screens worldwide, leaving little to none screens for the Rajinikanth-starrer.

Coolie also features Upendra, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir and others. The action thriller has music by Anirudh Ravichander and is produced by Sun Pictures.
