Corona Papers actress Sandhya Shetty: Women should have more than one career

Model, actress and karate champion Sandhya Shetty is known for her work in Kabhi Socha Bhi Na Tha, Meenaxi: Tale of 3 Cities, and most recently Corona Papers. At the first edition of the recently held OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023 in Mumbai, the actress was honoured with the OTTplay Reader’s Choice OTT Debut of the Year award for her role in director Samit Kakkad’s crime drama series Dharavi Bank, streaming on MX Player. 

Responding to winning the award, Sandhya said, “I think it feels absolutely fantastic. It’s quite rewarding because Dharavi Bank was a very special film for me, as it marked my OTT debut. And every film from here on is a promise that I will truly perform and make sure that I’m entertaining my beautiful audience.”

When asked who is the real change maker in your life, she said, “I think more than changemakers, my parents have been a great influence in my life, because they allowed me to make choices in life. And I think it’s very important that if you want to change something in your life, you have to make strong choices. Whether from the time I was a supermodel until the time I did my karate for 22 years. And now that I’m full fledged into acting, I think that only goes on to say that the change only comes when you want to change.”

So, did being a sportsperson help her to go through the struggle of an actor? “I really think that as women, we are people who are always told that you all are the second gender. But I really defy that. And I think through my campaign for woman empowerment, titled ‘No Fear’, I always say that you have to be fearless. And why just have one career. I’m a model, an actor and also into karate. And I think it’s all about time management. It’s all about hard work. And if that is there, nothing can stop you. We are the change makers!,” Sandhya summed up.
