After his magnum opus Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham starring Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja and Keerthy Suresh, director Priyadarshan has chosen a smaller film for his next project. The filmmaker is now all set for the release of his upcoming thriller Corona Papers.
The upcoming movie, which is also scripted and produced by the filmmaker, has Shane Nigam, Shine Tom Chacko, Gayathrie Shankar, Jean Paul Lal, Sandhya Shetty and Siddique in pivotal roles. Apart from Siddique, the rest of the actors are working with the veteran director for the first time in their careers.
What is Corona Papers about?
The makers have kept the plot of the curiously titled movie under wraps. However, Priyadarshan in a recent chat with OTTplay told us that it’s a crime thriller. The director said that he had been contemplating making the film for the past eight years but decided against it as he couldn’t zero in on a twist that would keep the audience engaged.
However, in the past year, the filmmaker got a twist in his screenplay that he said has enough to keep the audience “on the edge of their seats”. The director also explained that he was confident about the script of the movie and that’s why he has taken the risk to produce it as well. Priyadarshan’s previous production venture was Prakash Raj’s Kanchivaram, back in 2008.

When and where to watch Corona Papers?
The film will be the first big release of April in Malayalam. While there was a confusion regarding its release dates, the makers have now confirmed that the movie will hit theatres on April 6, a day ahead of Good Friday.
Corona Papers is expected to face competition only from Kunchacko Boban’s Enthada Saji, which is a feel-good entertainer, and Vijayaraghavan’s Pookkaalam. Both movies are set to hit theatres as Easter releases on April 8.
