Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently seen in Costao, a biographical crime drama that focuses on the customs officer Costao's fight against a gold smuggling ring in Goa. He was praised for his acting, and the film also received positive reviews. Now, in a recent interview, the actor opened up about the Bollywood industry and slammed it for copying from others. He also called multiple film sequels 'creative bankruptcy.'
During an interview with Puja Talwar for her YouTube channel, Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared his thoughts on the current Bollywood industry and called it out for copying from others for ages. He also mentioned that our industry lacks creativity and makes multiple film sequels.
He said, "Actually, insecurity has increased a lot. They feel that if a formula is working, they should keep milking it, overdo it. And what’s even more pathetic is that now there are 2, 3, 4 (sequels) being made. It's creative bankruptcy, just like financial bankruptcy. There's a lot of creative poverty. From the beginning, our industry has been stealing. We’ve stolen songs, we’ve stolen stories."
