Court grants divorce to Kanchan Mullick and Pinky Banerjee

After years of legal battle, actor Kanchan Mullick and actress Pinky Banerjee’s divorce was finalised. The court gave a verdict for the divorce on January 10.

Kanchan and Pinky’s marital life was wrecked a few years back when they complained against each other at the police station. Accusations and counter-accusations surfaced. It was also rumored that Kanchan was having an extramarital relationship with the television actress Sreemoyee Chattaraj. Kanchan and Pinky started living separately. Later, they went to the court seeking a divorce. It was also heard that Kanchan had to give a huge alimony to Pinky.

Kanchan denied to comment on the matter. In an interview with Anandabazar Online, he said he did not want to dwell on this matter. He briefly said, “The news is true. I don't want to say more.” Pinky said, “Yes we are divorced. I am busy with work. I am fine.” Their son is a minor and hence, according to the court order, he has to stay with his mother.

Pinky is currently busy with the serials Swayangsiddha and Constable Manju. She has opened a YouTube channel also. Kanchan, who is also an MLA of Uttarpara, is frequently seen with Sreemoyee at Tollywood parties. Sreemoyee also posts photos with Kanchan on social media. It is also heard that Kanchan wants to start a new life with Sreemoyee. Till now, the divorce case was the obstacle. Now it remains to see whether Kanchan and Sreemoyee marry.
