As revealed by Deadline, a crew member of the Law and Order: Organized Crime has been shot and killed on the sets of the NBC drama series. The 31-year-old man, whose identity remains undisclosed as his family is yet to be notified, was attacked by unknown people inside his car on the premises of the show's production. The incident took place in New York.

The crew member was found by the police around 5:15 am bearing multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital soon after. He was pronounced dead at around 6 am the same day but no arrests have been made yet. However, according to Forbes, the New York Police Department described the gunman or the attacker as 5'4" in height and wore a black hoodie and black pants: hit motives remain unknown to this point.

The same Forbes report shares that the victim functioned as the parking enforcement worker on the sets of Law and Order: Organized Crime and that he was enforcing the "no parking" rules in the neighborhood when the gunman approached him.

“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result. We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate.  Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time,” said an NBC and Universal Television spokeswoman to Deadline.

Not very long ago, a similar incident occurred on the sets of Rust when Hollywood veteran actor Alec Baldwin accidentally hand-fired a gun. The shot proved to be a fatal one and ended up taking the life of the film's cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, also injuring the production director on set. While many condemned the tragic event, Baldwin drew the ire of social media for his negligence.
