Koozhangal (or) Pebbles is currently making waves on the internet as the movie is getting much-deserving appreciation and awards at international film festivals. This time, it is all set to screen in the upcoming film festival of Argentina, the 17th edition of Festifreak.

Koozhangal was backed by Vignesh Shivan and the Lady superstar Nayanthara’s joint production venture, Rowdy Pictures. The critically acclaimed movie was earlier selected to be screened at several international festivals like the 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam on February 4, this year. Here, the parallel cinema was awarded the prestigious Tiger Award. Now, the movie is the official entry for Festifreak that has taken off today and will go on till October 17.

Koozhangal was helmed by P. S. Vinothraj who was also the recipient of the Professional Achievement Award at the 15th edition of Andrei Tarkovsky International Film Festival Zerkalo of Russia. The movie was also screened at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, which took place from May 20 to 27, this year.

Koozhangal stars Chellapandi and Karuththadaiyaan in lead roles. It talks about the quest of a young boy and his alcoholic father to find the former’s mother who left their home to escape her husband’s abuse. The movie is touted to be based on real-life incidents in Vinothraj’s family, which motivated him to take on the story. The soundtrack of the movie was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Talking about Vignesh Shivan, the filmmaker is currently occupied with the much-anticipated Vijay Sethupathi-Nayanthara-Samantha starrer, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal. Two singles from the movie, Rendu Kaadhal and Two Two Two are currently trending on the internet.
