Naga Chaitanya, who forayed into Hindi cinema with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022, has many interesting projects lined up for 2023. While he makes his web debut with Vikram Kumar’s horror show Dhootha, he also awaits the release of his first Tamil-Telugu bilingual Custody, written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film releases across the globe on May 12, 2023.

Commemorating New Year 2023, a brief glimpse of the film was launched. The glimpse begins with a series of aesthetic aerial shots and an arresting background score by Ilaiayaraaja and his son, composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. A series of car blasts later, Naga Chaitanya is introduced in a full-on action avatar, delivering one punch after the other and fighting out the baddies.

The Thank You star stares into the camera with a silent intensity as the glimpse ends. This is just what the doctor ordered for team Custody and gives audiences a strong reason to be curious about the film’s release. Krithi Shetty, who earlier teamed up with Naga Chaitanya for Bangarraju, is the female lead in this cop saga. Arvind Swami is cast as the antagonist.

While Priyamani will be seen in a crucial role, the star cast also comprises several heavyweights including Sampath Raj, Sarathkumar, Premji, Vennela Kishore and Premi Vishwanath, to name a few. Custody is touted to be one of the most expensive projects in Naga Chaitanya’s career. The star had one hit (Bangarraju) and two flops (Thank You, Laal Singh Chaddha) in 2022.

Srinivasaa Chitturi of Srinivasaa Silver Screen is bankrolling the bilingual. He backed another bilingual with Ram Pothineni, The Warriorr, in 2022. He is also the producer of Ram’s pan-Indian film directed by Boyapati Srinu. Meanwhile, Custody has cinematography by SR Kathir and will be edited by Venkat Raajen.

Abburi Ravi pens the dialogues and Stun Siva, Mahesh Mathew choreograph the action sequences. Rajeevan, DY Satyanarayana are the production designer and the art director respectively.
