Naga Chaitanya’s first film in 2023, Custody, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual (the first in his career) is barely a couple of weeks away from its theatrical release on May 12. He reunites with his Bangarraju co-star Krithi Shetty for the film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. Both the director and the male lead are set to explore newer markets with the cop drama, whose teaser released a month ago.
Gearing up for the promotional activity of Custody, Naga Chaitanya is currently in Chennai. As part of the promotions, he had interacted with the popular Tamil vlogger Irfan for his channel Irfans View recently. While playing a game of ‘truth’ or ‘dare’ with the YouTuber, Chaitanya was at his sportive answering tricky, edgy questions with a touch of humour. Here’s what he had to say about his next.

“This is my first bilingual and I’m really looking forward to it. I have attempted an out and action role for the first time. I got to share screenspace with actors like Arvind Swamy, Sarathkumar - it’s really exciting for me. The movie has come out very well. Venkat Prabhu has designed some cool action episodes for the film and I can’t wait for the audiences to experience it and especially hear what Tamil viewers have to say about it,” Chaitanya stated.
Though the actor may be making his Tamil debut with Custody quite late in his career, he has spent most of his early years in Chennai and has pleasant memories about it. He’d also promoted the Tamil version of Thank You last year in the city too. Chaitanya is quite fluent with his Tamil and it ensures him a good advantage in the market.
Sampath Raj, Vennela Kishore, Premgi Amaren, Priyamani, Premi Vishwanath too play important roles in Custody which has music by Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. SR Kathir is the cinematographer for the project while Venkat Raajen is the editor. Abburi Ravi has written the Telugu dialogues.
