If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is the latest to join the sets of Dhanush's upcoming film, which is tentatively being referred to as D 50. Dhanush has put on the director's cap for the film, which is billed as a gangster drama set in North Madras.
Varalaxmi plays a crucial role
We hear that Varalaxmi has already joined the sets and the shooting is happening at a brisk pace day and night, without a break. Varalaxmi is said to be playing a crucial role in the film. However, the details about her role have been kept under wraps. Varalaxmi and Dhanush had shared screen space in Maari 2.
Interestingly, it was only a few days ago that Nithya Menen's name made the rounds for the film. Nithya and Dhanush had teamed up for Mithran Jawahar's Thiruchitrambalam and the onscreen pair was much loved by the audience.
Dhanush turns director for the second time
D 50 marks Dhanush's second project as a director. He made his directorial debut with the feel-good drama Pa Paandi, which starred veteran actor Rajkumar in the lead. D 50 is bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who had earlier produced Dhanush's super hit film, Thiruchitrambalam.
The star cast for the film is said to comprise Sundeep Kishan and Anikha Surendran. Sundeep Kishan had recently shared screen space with Dhanush in Arun Matheswaran's Captain Miller. Composer Deva was approached for a role, which he didn't take it up.
Dhanush is busy with Captain Miller
In the meantime, Dhanush is busy with his upcoming action entertainer Captain Miller, in which he is said to be playing a rebel leader and a fugitive. The film's intense and action-packed teaser showed Dhanush as a fiery leader who gives the British a run for their money. Captain Miller has an ensemble star cast, which includes Dhanush, Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, John Kokken, Elango Kumaravel, Priyanka Mohan, Edward Sonennblick, Vinoth Kishan, Viji Chandrasekar and Niveditha Satish.
