D55: Dhanush joins hands with Amaran director Rajkumar Periasamy, see launch pictures

Actor-filmmaker Dhanush is on a signing spree! While earlier in the day, the release date of his next directorial Idly Kadai was announced, on Friday afternoon production house Gopuram Films announced their next with Dhanush. Yes, the rumours are true and Dhanush is all set to join hands with Amaran director Rajkumar Periasamy for a film.

Dhanush and Rajkumar Periasamy collaborate

Director Rajkumar Periasamy, who is currently basking the glory of Amaran success, is all set to team up with actor-filmmaker Dhanush for a new Tamil film. The film is tentatively called D55, and is financed by Gopuram Films. It is to be noted that the upcoming film marks the first time Rajkumar is collaborating with Dhanush. The inaugural function of the film took place on Friday, in the presence of the producer, actor and director. Filmmaker Vetrimaaran also took part in the function. More information on the cast and crew of the film are expected to be announced soon. A release date for Dhanush-Rajkumar film is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Rajkumar is fresh off the success of Amaran, which is currently running in theatres. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, and is a biopic of late Major Mukund Varadarajan. The film has been received well by the audience, with critics’ praise and commercial success.

Dhanush’s upcoming line-up

Dhanush was last seen in Raayan, a film in which he starred and directed. The film is currently streaming on Prime Video. Apart from this, the actor also has a biopic on Ilaiyaraaja, helmed by Arun Matheswaran and his next directorial venture Idly Kadai. Co-starring Nithya Menen, the film is scheduled to release in April 2025.

Meanwhile, Dhanush is also starring in Telugu-Tamil film Kubera, helmed by filmmaker Sekhar Kammula. The film also stars actors Nagarjuna Akkineni, Rashmika Mandanna, Jom Sarbh and others in prominent roles.
