The first poster of Challenging Star Darshan and Tharun Kishore Sudhir's ongoing collaboration, D56, evoked a lot of curiosity among fans. The image shows a dog leading a huge herd of sheep with the tagline 'Hindiruvavarige Daari, Mundiruvavarige Jawabdaari' () underlining the fact that Darshan's character in the film will lead a radical social change of some kind. D56 is also based on real incidents which means that Darshan and Tharun Sudhir are tackling something big in their third and upcoming collaboration. And with Roberrt, their previous film together, allowing Darshan to don not one but multiple avatars, fans, too, are hoping that an exciting film is in the offing.

D56 is currently underway with the team shooting in Hyderabad and other places and reportedly, 30% of the production has already been wrapped up. In the same vein, we also hear that the makers plan on unveiling the title of the film on February 16th, to mark Darshan's 46th birthday. Although the team is yet to make a formal announcement, one could expect the Challengkng Star's upcoming birthday to carry a special update for the fans. And considering that the film has been in the making for quite sometime, the next big update is most likely the title along with the first-look poster.

In his previous interviews writer-director Tharun Kishore Sudhir has said that D56 is based on a real incident he encountered a while ago and that the strong storyline will do perfect justice to Darshan's stardom. The two first worked together in the 2016 film Chowka in which Darshan made a special apperance. About 5 years later, the two would reunite for a full-fledged collaboration in the form of Roberrt.

As far as D56 is concerned, the film will mark the acting debut former superstar actress Malashree and producer Ramu's daughter, Radhana Ram. The young actress, who was originally named Ananya Ramu, was later rechristened as Radhana Ram ahead of her casting in D56. Fans, though, weren't all that impressed with the casting choice and many of them even highlighted the glaring age gap between her and Darshan, hoping that the two actors won't be paired romantically in the film.
