When Daali Dhananjaya addressed the media on January 30, 2026, he was not looking at clarifying or justifying why he was seen eating non-veg biryani, terming it his right to eat whatever he wants. It was also not something that should have been generalised about a community he said. But what he found strange is that people were more interested in talking about his food habits, rather than the work he was doing, as an actor and as a producer.
“The only reason that I felt the need to talk is that no one is discussing my work. As an actor, I launched a production house and made films for myself, like Badava Rascal and Head Bush. After that I made Tagaru Palya, Vidyapati, JC The University, which is releasing on February 6, Heggana Muddu, which is ready for release and Mother Promise, which is under production, apart from a web series for Zee Network. Except Vidyapati, every other film that I produced has been successful,” said Dhananjaya.

By the end of 2026, Dhananjaya says he would have introduced at least 10 new filmmakers in Kannada cinema and provided a livelihood to hundreds of daily-wage labourers in the industry. “Production is a business, but I am also giving back to the industry. Irrespective of the results, I am investing in Kannada cinema. I am taking that risk and no one is talking about that,” he rues.
As for is own acting gigs, Dhananjaya has not had a release since June 2024, but he has a bunch of projects that he’s working on tirelessly. For starters, there is Anna From Mexico with Badava Rascal maker Shankar Guru, followed by 666 Operation Dream Theatre, Halagali and Jingo, among others. Uttarakaanda will be back in production in due course of time, says the actor, adding that changes and updates to the script are being carried out currently.
