Dabaru, a biopic of Grandmaster Surya Sekhar Ganguly, is all set to hit the theatre in May. The teaser of the film, which is said to be the first Indian film on chess, was dropped on Friday.

The teaser opens with Dipankar Dey saying, “Chess is known as the kings’ game.” Dabaru tells the story of how an ordinary North Kolkata boy became the Grandmaster in this game. Middle-class parents are generally scared at the prospect of their kids taking chess as their profession since it is a low-profile game. Besides, there are insults and harassment, and other obstacles. The teaser shows how Surya Sekhar won these hurdles and became a Grandmaster at a young age.
