Adivi Sesh is known for picking unique and intriguing projects, and his next film, Dacoit, is no exception. For the first time in his career, he will be seen in a rugged mass avatar, playing a character with shades of negativity.
However, Dacoit has been making headlines for reasons beyond its gripping storyline. The film's original female lead, Shruti Haasan, walked out due to creative differences after shooting for nearly a month. She has now been replaced by Mrunal Thakur, who has already joined the shoot and completed a key portion of her role.
Adding to the excitement, the film features a pivotal cop role, and the makers have now confirmed that acclaimed Hindi filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has been roped in to play the antagonist. Anurag’s look as Inspector Swamy has been unveiled, showcasing him in a distinct appearance of an Ayyappa devotee, hinting at a special backdrop for his character. He has also commenced shooting, marking his Telugu film debut.
In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap mentioned that he is considering moving to South Indian cinema due to the exciting opportunities coming his way. Dacoit is just the beginning, as industry sources suggest that he is in talks for more Telugu projects. It will be interesting to see what kind of roles he takes on in the Telugu film industry.
Produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and Suniel Narang, Dacoit is being shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. The film’s music is composed by Bheems Ceciroleo, adding to the anticipation. Further details, including the release date, will be announced soon. Stay tuned for more updates on Dacoit.
