Dahaad star Vijay Varma wins best actor at Asian Academy Creative Awards, pens a moving note – Details inside

Besides discovering new content, multiple mediums, and completely different languages than what we are used to, the Indian audience majorly learned how good an actor Vijay Varma is in the past couple of years. The advent of streaming and the rise in its consumption opened many doors for the actor who had already hit gold with Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy in 2019. Most recently he proved his skills yet again by reuniting with Reema Kagti on Dahaad and turns out his performance has now won an award at the Asian Academy Creative Awards. 

Vijay Varma stars in Dahaad alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiah, Sohum Shah, and an ensemble. The show is created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti and the latter is also the director, for Amazon Prime Video. Set in a town in Rajasthan, the show is about a hunt for a serial killer. Varma plays the antagonist and his performance was praised by the critics and the audience in unison. The actor now has shared a note on his Instagram handle after winning an award for the same performance. 

In a series of photos and videos from the award night, Vijay Varma can be seen receiving the award, posing with it, and also obsessing over the trophy, deservingly so. In the caption, he wrote, “It’s always amazing when you win an award but this time it was more special because your win is your country’s win. I had the honor of receiving the coveted Asian Academy Best Actor in a leading role for Dahaad!”

Vijay Varma added, “I was nominated alongside 10 other acting talents across Asia-Pacific and it was quite a Power packed room.. but happy to say to my countrymen.. we are the best in Asia-Pacific, baby! Thank you so much @asianacademycreativeawards for the honour. Couldn’t have done this without my #dahaad team.”

He mentioned the entire team of Dahaad. The actor is now in the buzz for his performance in Jaane Jaan starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat alongside him. Vijay Varma is also in the news for his relationship with Tamannaah Bhatia and the couple keeps making public appearances to give fodder to their fans and the internet.
