Daldal - Another 'challenging' physical transformation for Bhumi Pednekar; this time for Prime Video's OTT series

Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar is all set to return on OTT with another thriller, Daldal. After getting critical acclaim for her performance in Netflix’s Bhakshak, Bhumi is now gearing up for the release of the police thriller Daldal on Amazon Prime Video. During a recent event, the actress shared insights about her character and her physical transformation for the "challenging" role.

Bhumi Pednekar leads Amazon Prime’s new series Daldal

In a recent conversation about the series and her character, Bhumi revealed that the character of DCP Rita Ferriera is one of her most challenging roles as she has delved into the thriller genre for the first time. She also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play roles that push her boundaries.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have had films and performances that kind of helped me push boundaries as a performer,” Bhumi said at a press conference held today.

Sharing her excitement about playing a layered character like DCP Rita Ferriera, Bhumi said that she has been preparing physically to play the role of a cop convincingly.

"Honestly, this is one of my most challenging roles. It’s a genre that I have never done; I have never done anything in the thriller-drama space. Daldal has a lot of action, (which requires) some kind of physical preparation and physical work. The beauty of Rita Ferriera is that she is so complex, conflicted, and layered. She is just stuck in the middle of an internal and external conflict,” Bhumi said about her character.

What is Daldal about?

Helmed by Amrit Raj Gupta, Daldal is based on Vish Dhamija's novel Bhendi Bazaar. Suresh Triveni and Vikram Malhotra serve as the executive producers, while the project is backed by Abundantia Entertainment. Daldal revolves around Mumbai’s newly appointed DCP, Rita Ferreira (Bhumi Pednekar), who is trapped between the horrors of her past and a trail of bloody murders. The conflicted cop faces the guilt of her past while dealing with the gruesome serial murders.
