No Time to Die marks Daniel Craig's swansong as the iconic character James Bond. The actor has played the role in five movies namely Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015) and the latest being No Time to Die. Now, Daniel is all set to return to the Broadway stage by playing the 'ambitious and murderous' Macbeth based on the Shakespearean play of the same name.
The play also features Ruth Negga as Lady Macbeth and the production will begin performances on March 29, 2022, for a 15-week run, as reported by Reuters. In a statement, co-producer Barbara Broccoli said, "Daniel is not only a great film actor but a magnificent theatre actor as well. I am thrilled that he will be supporting the return of Broadway playing this iconic role."
The Broadway show is being produced by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, who also backed the Bond movie. While Sam Gold will be directing the Scottish play.
Macbeth marks Ruth's Broadway debut while Daniel last featured in the 2013 couple's drama Betrayal. Interestingly, this is the second time, the actor will be a part of the Shakespearean play. He played the main antagonist Iago in the 2016 play Othello for New York Theatre Workshop.
Meanwhile, No Time To Die finally hit the big screens worldwide after much delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. Talking about the same, Daniel had told Reuters, "We've had COVID-19 so everything has to be put into perspective, doesn't it? I am greatly relieved: we make Bond movies for the cinema and we're here and I couldn't be happier about that."
No Time to Die is the 25th film in the James Bond series and is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. The film also features Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes in supporting roles.
On the movie front, Daniel's next movie is Knives Out 2 wherein he reprises his role as Detective Benoit Blanc.
