The premiere of Daredevil: Born Again on JioHotstar in India is just a few hours away. Based on the character Daredevil from Marvel Comics, Matt Corman and Chris Ord developed the upcoming television series for the streaming service Disney+. Through Marvel Studios' Marvel Television label, it is meant to be the 13th television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the franchise's films. Born Again is a rebirth and continuation of Daredevil (2015–2018), an earlier series that first streamed on Netflix and was produced by the former Marvel Television production firm. Showrunner Scardapane works alongside lead directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

Development and reworking of the series

Following the cancellation of Daredevil in 2018, Cox and D'Onofrio resumed their roles in Marvel Studios projects starting in 2021. Early 2022 saw the start of a fresh Daredevil series, with Corman and Ord attached as head writers by that May. Their episodic approach and softer tone than that of the Netflix series set the show. Announced in July 2022, Born Again originally had an 18-episode first season. However, by late September 2023, Marvel Studios opted to completely rework the series, releasing Corman, Ord, and the original filmmakers. In October 2023, Marvel Studios hired Scardapane, Benson, and Moorhead to adapt the approach to a more serialised format by directly aligning it with the Netflix series. The initial 18 episodes were split into two seasons.

Daredevil: Born Again takes place years after the events of Daredevil (2015–2018), following Matt Murdock a year after he ceased his vigilante operations. In the first season, Murdock continues his pursuit of justice as a lawyer, while former criminal leader Wilson Fisk is running for mayor of New York City, setting the stage for a major conflict.
