Darling Krishna and Milana Nagaraj’s Love Mocktail sequel gets a release date

By his own admission, Darling Krishna’s career was not going anywhere, until he decided to rewrite his fortune. Along with then girlfriend Milana Nagaraj, he wrote, produced and directed a film called Love Mocktail, which released early last year and was very well received. The film truly changed Krishna’s luck, who, subsequently signed up for as many as eight films as lead protagonists.

The romantic drama followed the protagonist Aadi’s quest for love, right from his high school days to college and professional life and the three women who shaped this journey. The film, which had music by Raghu Dixit, was widely appreciated and, given the slightly tragic ending, was open for the possibility of a sequel. Such was the appeal of the Kannada original that it was picked up for a Telugu remake featuring Satyadev, called Gurthunda Seethakalam, with Tammanaah and Kavya Shetty in pivotal roles.

Krishna’s change of fortune also meant that unlike the original, which he and Milana scraped together with their meagre savings, this time around they had a better budget to work around with. While Love Mocktail had Milana, Amrutha Iyengar and Rachana Inder in pivotal roles, the sequel will introduce Rachel David. Love Mocktail 2 had been cleared with a clean U certificate way back in October, and it was expected to release soon.

A couple of days ago, Krishna and Milana had posted that they would announce the release date soon, but also posed a query, asking fans when the likely date would be. While many said it would be an end of January 2022 release, exactly two years after the original, the resounding winner was February 14, which would be the couple’s anniversary.

Turns out, fans were not far off, with Krishna and Milana opting to release the film on February 11, 2022. “{Thank you all for liking the poster and sharing it everywhere.. I am excited to bring this movie to you on Feb 11th. How excited are you to watch Aadi's journey on the big screen?” wrote Krishna in his social media post along with the poster announcing the release date.
