Darshan citing late Puneeth Rajkumar as example for outpouring of love from fans is in bad taste, say netizens

When Challenging Star Darshan called a YouTube journalist home for his first-ever interview in a while and, first to an online publication, for that matter, little did he think that some of his opening statements could be misconstrued. Darshan, who has been busy giving finishing touches to his next release, Kranti, was speaking about his fans, when he used the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s example to demonstrate how people love stars.

Speaking to Rajini Express, Darshan said that he was amazed at how his fans have been organizing ‘Kranti’ demonstrations across the state, to promote the film, which should be an end of the year release. What he said, though, has not gone down well with a section of people, who believe that it was in bad taste to use the late Power Star’s name, even if there was no ill-meaning in his statement. Darshan first said that the extent of how much a star is loved is truly seen when he passes away, as was the case with Puneeth Rajkumar. His follow up to this statement is what has riled up people.

The actor said that his fans had shown them their love while he’s still alive, which is more than he bargained for. Puneeth Rajkumar fans have been riled by this statement and are now demanding that the Challenging Star issue an apology. Their contention is that while speaking about his fans and their love, Darshan had no business bringing in the late Puneeth as an example. Darshan’s words are an affront to the legacy of the late Power Star.

On social media, a fan war has been brewing over the last couple of days and is showing no signs of abating. But will the Challenging Star apologize to Puneeth fans? Well, that remains to be seen.
