The Devil, Darshan Thoogudeepa’s much-awaited next, has a change in release date. And no, it’s not a delay, as has been frequently seen with big-ticket films. Director Prakash Veer is actually bringing the film to theatres a day earlier than planned, following immense demand from Darshan fans. The Devil had been announced as a December 12, 2025 release, but on November, the makers confirmed an early theatrical outing on December 11.
OTTplay reached out to Prakash’s wife Thashwini, who besides handling production and distribution, is also in charge of the marketing of the film. “Our release plan of the 12th has been advanced by a day and by this we don’t just mean special or paid preview shows on the evening of the 11th. December 11 is now our new release date, which we have fixed based on demand from fan associations. We recently had a meet-and-greet with them and the overwhelming demand was for special fan shows. Instead of doing a set of limited number of shows on the 11th, we decided to just shift the release plans accordingly,” she says.
Will the film have early morning shows then to accommodate this demand or paid premieres on December 10th? “No, there will not be paid premieres and no early morning shows either. We will kick off with the earliest allowed, at, say, 6 am or 6.30 am and are targeting close to 300 theatres and well over 1,200 shows, as a conservative estimate. This, of course, is likely to increase, as there are no other major releases that week,” says Thashwini.

So, what’s the promotional plan in the coming days? “The trailer will be out sometime between November 30 and December 2, with our first major press briefing scheduled on the 2nd. There is one more song, which we are looking at releasing on the 11th or 12th, perhaps as a full video. A final call on this is yet to be taken,” she explains.
