Writers Salim-Javed changed the face of Hindi commercial cinema in the 70s and set a template for many genres, whose tropes, directors continue to employ in their scripts even today. Remember Don, where a common man, a lookalike of a dreaded gangster postures as a don to help the cops? Das Ka Dhamki does something similar in the corporate world, where a waiter, a lookalike of a CEO, needs to come in place of the latter, to take charge of a company.
Vishwak Sen plays the lead and directs Das Ka Dhamki while Nivetha Pethuraj is cast opposite him. Three songs from the film were out recently and garnered good numbers on Youtube and music streaming platforms. While the makers have been constantly reiterating that the film would hit screens in March, the release date was officially confirmed today - March 22.
Dhamaka writer Prasanna Kumar Bezawada has penned the dialogues for mass entertainer that also features Rao Ramesh, Hyper Aadi, Rohini and Prudhvi Raj in key roles. Karate Raju bankrolled the film under Vanmaye Creations and Vishwaksen Cinemas. While the film’s trailer was launched by Balakrishna many months ago, Das Ka Dhamki was to release earlier on February 17, but was postponed later owing to a last-minute shoot.
This is a crucial film for Vishwak Sen - it’s his first pan-Indian release that’ll simultaneously hit screens in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi languages. However, will the March 22 release date, especially for the fact it’ll face major competition from Nani starrer Dasara on March 30, which is also a pan-Indian film. Das Ka Dhamki makers need to clearly work out their promotional strategy to make noise across multiple languages.
With cinematography by Dinesh K Babu, the film has music by Leon James. Anwar Ali is the editor and A Ramanjaneyulu is the art director respectively. Todor Lazarov-Juji, Dinesh K Babu and Venkat are the action choreographers for the same.
