2022 has been a mighty year so-far for Kannada cinema. The industry has offered a plethora of exciting content that ranges from magnum massy films like K.G.F: Chapter 2 to endearing emotional dramas such as 777 Charlie, and everything in between. Under the 'pan-India' garb, Kannada filmmakers have managed to put their cinema and ethos on the national map to cause those around to take notice and appreciate what this exciting new wave has to offer.
One such nod to this cultural shift came from Telugu superstar Nani who, while in Bengaluru recently, couldn't help but acknowledge the influx of talent. "The whole country is talking about the kind of films that you guys are making," said Nani in his quintessential, unassuming manner as he drew a massive roar from the crowd in front. The Dasara actor was in the city for an awards night and the fact that his praise for Kannada cinema came as part of his acceptance speech has endeared everyone.
"I have been hearing great things about the recent film Kantara and that it's a wonderful film. Wherever you go, you hear people talk about Kannada cinema in high regard and this makes me super proud. I might be from the neighbouring state but I say this as though the Kannada industry is my own - it's great to celebrate this win with you all tonight," added the Telugu actor.
Nani, known fondly as the Natural Star by his fans for his restrained and more realistic on-screen demeanour, is equally popular and well-regarded among Kannada cinema patrons who have often cited him as a model commercial actor. Many of Nani's films have done great box office business in Karnataka and for obvious reasons, the actor's recent speech has gone viral on the internet with many showering praises on him for his kind words.
As far as Kantara is concerned, the makers of the film are gearing up for the new leg of theatrical releases which is to begin on October 14. Kantara, following an overwhelming response, will be dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam with reputed distributors like Anil Thadani, Allu Aravind, and Prithviraj Sukumaran joining the team recently.
