Earlier today, the trailer of Natural Star Nani’s much awaited Dasara was released. The film is slated to hit theatres on March 30, and the trailer had everyone singing praise of the leading man and his heroine, Keerthy Suresh. Also garnering a lot of attention is actor Dheekshith Shetty, who is almost unrecognizable in the film, having shed his ‘Dia’ cute looks in favour of a more raw and rugged avatar.
Dasara will be Dheekshith’s biggest film to date, and it is releasing in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. How has the response to the trailer been? “It’s been phenomenal. I am getting a lot of good response for the trailer, not only from Kannada film audiences, but even from Tamil and Malayalam. It feels good to be appreciated. Now, I hope that this love for the film continues and it does well at the box office. March 30 has several other big-ticket releases, including Dhananjaya’s Gurudev Hoysala in Kannada, Ajay Devgn’s Bhola in Hindi and Simbu’s Pathu Thala,” said Dheekshith.

A year ago, OTTplay had spoken to Dheekshith, when he had just begun shooting for Dasara in Hyderabad, a role he got because the team’s first choice, Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew, had scheduling issues. At the time, the Kannada actor had just done a Telugu film called Meet Cute, which was directed by Nani’s sister Deepthi Ganta, and some of the assistant directors on that film then proceeded to work on Dasara. When they were scouting for an actor after Roshan could not accommodate dates, these ADs suggested Dheekshith as a candidate.
Dasara is Dheekshith’s fourth film in Tollywood, and the reception across the border has been very encouraging for him, as the opportunities came to him based on positive word of mouth about his work and not his marketability as an actor.
