The event was organised on the eve of Dasari Narayana Rao's 80th birth anniversary

The Dasari Film Awards, an event organised in memory of legendary filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao annually, was held at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad on the eve of his 80th birth anniversary. Jointly hosted by ABC Foundation and Vasavi Film Awards, the event felictated several artistes, filmmakers and crew belonging to the 24 crafts of the Telugu film industry. Dasari Film Awards had notable names from the industry including Relangi Narasimha Rao, SV Krishna Reddy, Atchi Reddy, Tummalapalli Rama Satyanarayana and Suman presenting awards to technicians.
Artistes, crew belonging to several filmmaking crafts including art direction, stunts, music, writing, direction, editing, cinematography, acting (including junior artistes), dubbing, treasurers of many associations, were felicitated at the event. In addition, several film veterans, socialites, theatre artistes, distributors, philanthropists - numbering to 9 - were conferred upon the Dasari Lifetime Achievement Award.
Expressing their happiness about receiving the honour, the association representing the stuntspersons in the industry claimed that they find themselves extremely privileged to have been awarded at the event for their efforts. "There may be heroes, directors and producers who may have received awards but it's people like us who get the job done for them. Many of us take several risks to pull off challenging action scenes, come what may and even get our legs, hands injured in the process. Dasari Film Awards feels like a Padmashri for us," they said.
In a career spanning over four decades, Dasari Narayana Rao, besides directing over 150 films in Telugu and Hindi, has also produced, acted in a handful of movies. Besides being a prolific writer, he's been a lyricist as well. Some of his many iconic films over the years include Tata Manavadu, Sivaranjani, Idekkadi Nyayam, Gorintaku, Sardar Paparayudu, Bobbili Puli, Kalyani, Bobbili Puli, Premabhishekam and Megha Sandesham, to name a few.
