The highest-grossing Marathi movie of 2025, Dashavatar, will soon be screened on Kerala's big screens, it was recently reported. In order to avoid conflicting with some of the much-awaited Malayalam films, the makers have now rescheduled its theatrical debut to December 12. No other films have been slated for release on the same date.

Interestingly, this is the first time a Marathi movie is releasing in Kerala. According to earlier reports, the movie will be released on the big screen here on November 21. It is plausible to presume that the film wants to avoid a conflict with Prithviraj Sukumaran's Vilaayath Budha and Sandeep Pradeep's Eko, even though the reason for the postponement has not been disclosed.
The makers have also released a teaser in Malayalam to confirm the revised release date. Dashavatar is expected to win additional praise following its Kerala premiere. The film's producers claimed that because the Malayali audience is receptive to the best films in whatever language, the Malayalam version of the movie is being promoted to them through theatrical release.

The film is directed by Subodh Khanolkar and stars Dilip Prabhavalkar, a National Award winner, as Babuli Mestri, the protagonist. Bharat Jadhav, Siddharth Menon, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Priyadarshini Indalkar are among the supporting cast members of the movie. By depicting the life of an elderly Dashavatāra singer whose last act becomes a magical experience that blends fact and folklore, the film examines sacrifice, faith, and the struggle to maintain a legacy. The film is currently available for viewing in Marathi on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium.
The film debuted in theatres across Maharashtra on September 12. At the box office, it earned over ₹28 crore, which is regarded as a substantial sum in the Marathi industry. Both critics and moviegoers enjoyed Dashavatar. In the Sanjay Dutt-starrer Hindi film Lage Raho Munna Bhai, veteran actor Dilip Prabhavalkar played Mahatma Gandhi. He won the 2006 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in this movie.
