Apart from Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur, Bollywood diva Yami Gautam has passed with flying colours in her latest social comedy-drama Dasvi. The actress has been the talk of the town not only for her captivating performance in her latest movie but for a controversy that has been arise recently when the actress called out the critics for bashing her work in the Netflix film. Meanwhile, now Yami has opened up about getting refused by many celebrities fashion designers and how she maintained the towards her work in the Hindi film industry during everything that has been going around.
During a recent interview with indianexpress.com, Yami talked about feeling privileged to drape her mother's saree in her own wedding, while she also opened up about how she has been refused for given outfits by a lot of reputed and famous fashion designers in the Bollywood because you are not so and so.
"It is the entire system. I remember I heard that about myself once. That person said, ‘No, that lehenga is not for you’, and I was like ‘What, why?!’, and they said, ‘No, just doesn’t work with that designer’. It was so mean. I don’t understand what the criteria is, how can you make someone feel so bad?" Yami added in her statement during the chat. She also mentioned that not all designers are like that, some of them are really nice to work with.
Dasvi marks the first-ever directorial of filmmaker Tushar Jalota and the social comedy flick has been backed by Dinesh Vijan, who is famous for producing movies like Stree and Luka Chuppi.
The Netflix original movie, which also has Danish Husain, Arun Kushwah, Shivankit Singh Parihar, Sumit Shekhar, Manu Rishi Chadha and Abhimanyu Yadav in significant roles, is also available to stream on Jio Cinema
