Dasvi got its digital release yesterday, and although the film failed to ‘wow’ critics, the performance of the lead cast received widespread adulation from many. But one review seems to have rubbed star Yami Gautam the wrong way.
In a film review by a reputed portal, Gautam was referred to as no longer being the ‘dead girlfriend’ in Hindi films, and that her ‘combative’ smile was ‘repetitive’. Posting a snippet of the line , the actress took to Twitter to express her displeasure in a series of Tweets.
Gautam started off by saying that she usually took constructive criticism ‘in her stride’, but she had to express her opinion this time as she felt that the platform in question was ‘consistently’ trying to ‘pull her down’. “My recent films & performances include 'A Thursday', 'Bala', 'Uri' etc & yet this is qualified as a 'review' of my work! It's extremely disrespectful!” she said.
The actress also talked about how hard she had worked as a ‘self made actor’ and called the present situation ‘heartbreaking’. She also asked the portal to not review her performances henceforth.
Dasvi revolves around the story of an imprisoned politician who decides to study and earn his high school diploma while in jail. Part of the film’s review by OTTplay reads “Yami Gautam Dhar plays it well as a tough cop and leaves an impressive mark with her mannerisms and dialogue delivery.”
In addition to Gautam, the film also features Abhishek Bachchan, Nimrat Kaur, Shivam Roy Prabhakar, Manu Rishi Chadha, Arun Kushwaha, Shivankit Singh Parihar, and Sumit Shekhar Rai.
The film was directed by Tushar Jalota from a script penned by Ritesh Shah, Suresh Nair and Sandeep Leyzell.
Dasvi is available for streaming on Netflix and Jio Cinema.
