Filmmaker David Gordon Green will direct a film on Walt Disney's journey to building Disneyland, the "Happiest Place on Earth."
The news of Green taking up this project comes right before the US release of Halloween Kills, starring Jamie Lee Curtis.
According to Deadline, the Disneyland film will be released on Disney Plus. It will be written by Evan Spiliotopoulo, who is known for films like the live-action reboot of Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Huntsmen, The Jungle Book 2, Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure among others.
Dana Brunetti and Matt DelPiano via Cavalry Media will produce the film with Jason Reed. Allison Erlikhman will oversee the project on behalf of Disney.
The first Disneyland opened in Anaheim, US on on July 17, 1955. It is the only theme park that was constructed under the supervision of Walt Disney, mentions Deadline.
The outlet also notes that the last film centring around the businessman and animator extraordinare was Saving Mr Banks in 2013, which starred Tom Hanks. The film went on to bag an Oscar nomination .
