This year's puja release had some high buzz since four films were released on the same day. Srijit Mukherji’s Dawshom Awbotaar, the prequel of Baishe Srabon, was released and stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jisshu U Sengupta, Anirban Bhattacharya, and Jaya Ahsan. Dev plays Bagha Jatin in Arun Roy’s film. Koel Mallick had made a comeback as Mitin Mashi in Arindam Sil’s Jongole Mitin Mashi. Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty play the lead in Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s first-ever thriller Raktabeej. The tussles between Dev and Prosenjit, Mimi and Koel, and Jisshu and Abir, are at their peaks.
Which film is racing ahead of others? According to media reports, on the Shasthi, most people came to watch Dawshom Awbotaar. Fifty-seven shows were almost full and two of them were housefull. Twenty-three of Bagha Jatin’s shows were almost full and one was housefull. Twenty-six Raktabeej shows were almost full. Mitin Mashi is trailing. Only 8 shows were almost full and only one was housefull.
Dev’s films are always a craze among the audience. He presented two consecutive hits, Tonic and Projapati, in the post-Covid period. However, Byomkesh O Durga Rohosyo did moderate business at the box office. Srijit's Baishe Srabon and Dwitiyo Purush were instant hits. Hence there was a craze regarding Dawshom Awbotaar.
On the other hand, Shiboprosad-Nandita's films are always a hit. Raktabeej is their first thriller and the viewers are loving it. Only Mitin Mashi has been suffering at the box office.
