Dawshom Awbotaar sees nationwide release

Srijit Mukherji’s cop-universe thriller Dawshom Awbotaar has received a grand opening and steady box office progress in Bengal. With Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Jaya Ahsan, and Jisshu U Sengupta in the lead, the film has received positive reviews from critics and viewers alike. Amid this, the film was released across India.

In Bengal, the film’s premiere had nearly 20 sold-out screenings, and the weekend is shaping up to be just as impressive, given the numbers from bookings. The film is produced by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment.

Given its report in Bengal, the makers decided to release it nationwide in several cities, including Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dwarka, and Tezpur.

Dawshom Awbotaar is a prequel to Baishe Srabon and Vinci Da, invoking nostalgia for Probir Roychowdhury and Bijoy Boddar – two cops from the two films. The film’s soundtrack has resonated deeply with the audience, with the songs receiving love on social media. Anupam Roy has undeniably crafted an unforgettable masterpiece with his soul-stirring compositions.

The film delves into a serial killing in which victims are killed with references to Lord Vishnu’s avatars. Probir Roychowdhury (Prosenjit) and Bijoy Podder (Anirban) start their investigation. They chase a plot and the killer through a dark story. The trailer already revealed that Jisshu is the killer in the film. Hence, the film progresses as a whodunit rather than a whodunit. Jaya plays the character of a psychiatrist.
