We had earlier reported that director Lokesh Kanagaraj will be turning into an actor, and it will be helmed by filmmaker Arun Matheswaran. The makers of the film on Saturday, made it official by releasing the title video. It is titled DC.

After helming Coolie, Lokesh Kanagaraj has announced his next project. If you think it to be either Kaithi 2 or the one announced with Aamir Khan, then you are in for a disappointment. Lokesh Kanagaraj turns hero for his next project. While the LCU creator has earlier starred in Shruti Haasan’s music video Inimel, the upcoming film will mark the first time Lokesh will be acting in films.

The film is titled DC. The film will have Wamiqa Gabbi as the female lead. The video begins with Wamiqa Gabbi and Lokesh Kanagaraj walking in separate paths. Much like Lokesh Kanagaraj's heroes, the filmmaker too seems to be drowned in blood as he wields a knife. His character name is revealed to be Devadas. Meanwhile wears a rose on her hair as she grabs a packet of condom and leaves. Her name is revealed to be Chandra. Their initials form the film's title, DC. As both of them meet, the announcement video ends with title reveal.

What do we know about DC?

DC is directed by filmmaker Arun Matheswaran, who has earlier made films like Saani Kayidham and Rocky. With both Arun and Lokesh Kanagaraj known for making films high on violence and bloodshed, DC is also expected to be on the same lines, with elements of romance and action.

Apart from Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy will also star in the film, which is backed by Coolie producers. The additional screenplay is by Arun Ranjan and dialogues written by Arun Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob. Anirudh Ravichander will be scoring music for DC, with Mukesh as cinematographer. GK Prasanna is editor. DC is set to release in sometime in summer 2026.
