DD Returns OTT release date: When, where to watch Santhanam's horror comedy

Actor Santhanam's latest horror comedy DD Returns is all set to have its digital premiere soon. DD Returns is the third instalment in the Dhilluku Dhuddu franchise and it is helmed by director S.Prem Anand. 

The first two movies in the franchise were written and directed by Rambhala. And the franchise has turned Santhanam into Kollywood's own 'scream king.' It has become a sure-short money-spinner for the actor at the box office as it enjoys its own fanbase.

However, Prem Anand took over the reins of the franchise from Rambhala for the latest instalment. It's unclear as to why the director was replaced and or if will he return to helm the future instalments in the projects. 

DD Returns is bankrolled by Ramesh Kumar under the banner of RK Entertainment. The music is composed by ofRo, while Hari Dinesh and NB Srikanth have handled action choreography and editing respectively.

DD Returns was Santhanam's first release in 2023. And he was quite upbeat about the movie. In the run-up to the movie's theatrical release, Santhanam promised that this movie will click with the family audience. He also noted that not just the adults, but this movie can also be by the kids. 

Judging from the trailer, DD Returns seems to be taken inspiration from the cartoon series The Addams Family. The movie is set against the backdrop of a castle, which houses the ghosts of aristocratic family members. And the ghosts also host game nights, which are not exclusive to just the dead. The mortal beings in search of making quick money can take part in the game. Those who can successfully overcome the obstacle course set by the ghosts can take home a fortune. But, it seems not many have succeeded in it.

Besides Santhanam, the movie also stars Surbhi, Redin Kingsley, Maran and Pradeep Rawat. 

DD Returns will make its debut on Zee5 on September 1.
