DeAr, the Tamil film starring GV Prakash Kumar and Aishwarya Rajesh, released in theatres on Thursday. The film, which is a romantic drama, revolves around a newly married couple, who struggle with the wife’s snoring problem during the nights. The film is directed by Anand Ravichandran and shares its premise with the 2023 film Good Night, which revolves around a husband's snoring issue.

Post-theatrical rights of DeAr

The film released in theatres on April 11. After the film completes its theatrical run and a run of minimum four weeks, DeAr will be available for streaming. Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical rights of the film. DeAr marks the first onscreen collaboration of GV Prakash and Aishwarya Rajesh will be sharing the screen space. The title is a portmanteau of the main lead’s character names, Deepika and Arjun.

All about DeAr

GV Prakash plays the role of Arjun, a light sleeper who wants to make it big as a newsreader. Meanwhile, he gets married to Deepika, a Coonoor based girl who has a snoring issue. However, unaware of this Arjun gets married to Deepika and finds out the latter’s problem on the first night of their marriage. The film focusses on the trials and tribulations the couple go through to make their marriage work.

DeAr is written and directed by Anand Ravichandran and produced by Varun Tripuraneni, Abhishek Ramisetty, and G Pruthviraj. The music has been scored by GV Prakash and others part of the technical crew consists of cinematographer Jagadeesh Sundaramurthy, editor Rukesh and art director Pragatheeswaran. The film also stars Rohini, Ilavarasu, Kaali Venkat, Geetha Kailasam, and others.

DeAr reception

The film got mixed reviews upon its release. OTTplay review of the film called it a “dreary watch that doesn't cash in on its central conflict”. However, given its family-friendly story, the film is expected to get picked up to watch during the weekend in theatres.
